We want to introduce you to the first Nordic Medical Walking Program in the United States, launched in January 2016 in Las Vegas at the Parker Seminar after 2 years of development. There are over 350 Scientific/ Medical studies on Nordic Walking showing benefits in 4-6 weeks. This has been a well-kept European Health Secret for over 20 years with over 10 million people Nordic Pole Walking every day! We already have Logan University, Southern California University of Health Sciences and Parker University on board with Faculty and Student walking clubs. The administrations of these schools realized that their students studying to be Doctors spends 10-12 hours a day in classrooms studying without much time to exercise. Nations Nordic Medical Walking exercise program was their easy solution! Nations workplace Health & Wellness Program is easily implemented and cost effective for any business, no matter how large or small.

Nordic Pole Walking is a fun and social activity that is proven to improve stress management, mood, increase energy, general strength and health and is highly effective for weight loss which helps with diabetes. Nordic Walking contributes to better management and prevention of most chronic health conditions. In America, nearly 1 of every 15 people in the workforce is employed in the trucking industry which includes over 7 million truck drivers on our roads. Due to an unhealthy Lifestyle and lack of good nutrition options and daily exercise while traveling, truck drivers are categorically one of the unhealthiest populations in our country. The average life expectancy of drivers is 61 years (Global Insight May 2005). Statistics from the National Institute of Health show that more than 50% of truck drivers are obese compared to national rate of 26%. The prevalence of diabetes is 50% higher and 87% of drivers have hypertension or pre- hypertension. Among the general adult population 49% exercise regularly while truck drivers only exercise 8% of the time. Improving truck driver’s health does not go without challenges. Commercial drivers work extremely long days, in a high-stress environment. Their job requires them to meet tight schedules and stay alert for up to 14 hours a day. Drivers remain sedentary for long periods of time and lack of quality food options provide poor nutrition/diet and time for a proper full body exercise. It’s not a matter of adopting a Wellness Program to address chronic disease, but more importantly the challenge of getting drivers to participate in the programs. Walking is the number one exercise recommended by Doctors to their patients because it is simple and everyone walks unless disabled.

Student Walking Clubs

Autism Occurrence: One in every 150 children born in the US have Autism. It is estimated 1.5 million in the US have this disorder.
A new case of autism is diagnosed nearly every 20 minutes. There are 24,000 new cases diagnosed in the US per year. The economic impact of autism is more than $90 billion and expected to more than double in the next decade. Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases. There is no medical detection treatment, or cure for autism. Autism compared to other disabilities is the fastest growing developmental disability in the US today!

The Nordic Walking Medical Program is helping kids with disabilities. While attending the Spring Symposium at Logan University Nordic Walking Nations learned about the Kentuckiana Children's Center. As soon as they saw the Nordic Pole it was clear to them the poles would be an effective therapy for kids with disabilities. The Nordic Poles helps with both skeletal structure issues along with helping in the areas of neurological function
The Nordic Poles can be used to assist in refining and developing the cross motor function used in walking. Once it is developed the poles can be held in each hand to work on the coordination and arm swing used in walking. This has also been shown to be effective with people suffering from Parkinson.
People with Down Syndrome tend to have some issue with balance. With the Nordic Poles balance exercises can be accomplished as the Nordic Poles give the user the balance they cannot achieve on their own. As the exercises are performed the brain will build on the muscle memory required to perform the task. Cerebral palsy is caused by abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain that control movement, balance, and posture. Signs and symptoms vary between people. Often, symptoms include poor coordination, stiff and tight muscles, weak muscles, and tremors. The Nordic Poles are able to provide the stability and resistance so an effective stretch can be applied to the effected muscle group while also promoting correct posture. With the Nordic Poles overhead and bending to the right and left, the effected left side tightness can certainly be felt.
